Born in Kyoto in 1918, Kanbe Juzu blends traditional beauty with modern sensibility. For over 100 years, we have crafted authentic Kyoto-style prayer beads (京念珠®), preserving a heritage that transcends time. Each piece is handmade by skilled artisans, produced in small quantities to honor the integrity of the craft and the precious materials we work with.
Prayer beads have long been more than objects—they are tools of connection, linking hearts and intentions across generations. Even in an age of mechanization, Juzu continue to be made by hand in Kyoto, a testament to their sacred role and the deep respect they command.

“I believe that in our fast-paced world, we all need a moment to return to ourselves.
Growing up in Kyoto’s 100-year-old tradition, I learned that a Juzu is more than a string of beads, it is a vessel for intention, a tool for grounding, and a bridge between generations. After the sudden passing of my father, I took up the mantle to ensure this delicate craft wouldn't just survive, but evolve.

Our philosophy is rooted in monozukuri no omoi: a deep respect for materials, intention, and the art of creating with heart and purpose.
